I don't particularly want to get drawn in to a protracted debate but I am interested in where the assertions that "they" are coming for all firearms has arisen. There has been no mention that I'm aware of that indicates an intention to outlaw simple bolt action hunting rifles. There has been a reaction to a tragedy caused by some nutjob with a semi-auto and hi capacity magazines - The government has responded by (rightly or wrongly. Too fast, too broad, too ill-considered?) banning semi-autos and high capacity mags. They have also taken some steps to try and impact hate-speech and race/ethnicity/religion based violence - I have seen lots of comments about how we will be stripped of all of our rights and freedoms but am yet to hear a reasonable explanation of how or why...

Hi @Dorkus, Have a look at the 'comrade Jacinda' youtube clip and then read up on the same groups manifesto regarding 'small arms'.
I expect things to settle and I expect at some point we will have a change of Government that will put a stop to the firearms restrictions / controls. But until then Tarrant has given the anti-firearms brigade a once in a lifetime opportunity and they will make the most of it whilst Labour is in power. We have a Police force that favours these controls too. The next moves will be choking restrictions on ammo and reloading components. Then it would be very simple to also restrict or place impediments in the way of hunting on DOC estate. The only thing we have in our favour is the free pest control we provide and 1080 negates the need for that, so during the term of the current govt we are in for a 'butt fucking'
