    1000 yard - 270 ..... just

Having a crack at 1000 yards with the Tikka 270. Not much of a show of marksmanship but there was one hit, just on the very edge. The plate is 12"x12" and the scope is a Vx2 3-9x40 which really made keeping on target difficult. The wind reading and adjusting needing a lot more practice.

    Bullets are 135 Sierra HPBT

Well done getting on the steel
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

good stuff vapour. How much did you have to allow for the wind at that range with 135's?

I started around 5 MOA guessing around 6mph for right to left wind - but ended up down to about 0.5 moa - when we got back to target it had died right down to almost nothing. I suspect my poi is a bit rightish at that range perhaps?

Next time you put the target out hang some ribbon next to it to get an idea of the wind at target.
