Yes the 20 gauge rifled slugs are very effective

My BPS 20 gauge shoots 300mm at 50m just with the bead
    Winchester ammo

If you were walking up birds on a braided river and wanted the backup of slugs for if you run into a pig or deer these are great

They usually come in packets of 5
So just buy 5 each of what you can find

Test them all and see what you gun likes
Buy some more of those and always have a few in your ammo belt

But make sure you can quickly and easily tell them from your bird shot

exactly -make bloody sure ya know where the slug is - rabbit shooting around motor camp Waikaremoana when no one there - carried two 12 gauge buckshot either side at front of ammo belt as had seen a deer just around corner from camp days before - whacked a bunny and damn that booted - yup buckshot - a friend out pheasant shooting in sand dunes out from Shannon -dog locked onto patch of lupins - snuck up and looked and looked - dirty big Sambar stag just standing inside lupins pretending to be invisible
