Amax 120
AR 2208 40.5 grains
71.45 OAL
Never chrony'd it but in resized milsurp lake city brass its hot. With flat primers. Flattens reds and Sika.
GRT shows Vel 2725fps and that's been close in other load development.
19” Tikka. 135 classic hunters and 142 LRAB 2700fps + with fairy dust rel 26 but rel 17 and superformance gave similar speeds
Owned 3x 18" 260s Inc 1x m7.
43.5gr 2209 behind a 130 sierra gameking shot sub moa in all of them
And, you all have different loads but how does the .260 go on game?
I'm thinking on getting one, mostly because I want to try it on targets to 200 m and later learn some long range skills
@CBH Australia 260 is lethal on game and great on target as minimal recoil
@Rambo6mmrem had 120s doing 3k in an 18" 260
My Sako 260 (19-20”) 130gn Sierra gamechangers 2860fps with a healthy dose of Superformance.
Shut up, get out & start pushing!
19" 260 shoots 140 eldms @ 2700 and 130 eldms @2800.
44ish grains of 2209.
Hi
My hunting mates have a Rem M7 (16") that loves 120 gn sierra MKs, and the other is a Win M70 (16") which loves 140 gn sierra SP. Both are lethal on NZ game due to the excellent sectional density that 6.5 mm bullets have. Both of these rifles shoot well under MOA and are a pleasure to shoot. For some reason when they hit the animals just drop. You won't be disappointed with a 260, they definitely punch above their weight, but then most of the 6.5s do.
Sectional Density is the relation between mass and cross sectional area. All calibres can have bullets of equal sectional density. For example a 130gn 6.5cal projectile has a similar SD to a 150gn 7mm projectile or 180gn 30cal. In fact a 120gn 6.5mm bullet (like you mate uses) has a relatively low SD but it obviously doesn't stop it killing animals.
Experience. What you get just after you needed it.
