And, you all have different loads but how does the .260 go on game?
I'm thinking on getting one, mostly because I want to try it on targets to 200 m and later learn some long range skills

It works well on our NZ game out to 500 yards with the right pill.

Thanks, that's what Im thinking I just need to be convinced.
I'm sure it's a great thing, I've seen a few good buys come up and I think they will be slow selling so but I'm waiting to pounce on the right thing.

I've had 4 or 5 different .260 being Sako and Tikka they are the most accurate rifles I've owned and very nice to shoot, you won't regret getting one or a Creedmoor as they are very close fps wise

    Hi
My hunting mates have a Rem M7 (16") that loves 120 gn sierra MKs, and the other is a Win M70 (16") which loves 140 gn sierra SP. Both are lethal on NZ game due to the excellent sectional density that 6.5 mm bullets have. Both of these rifles shoot well under MOA and are a pleasure to shoot. For some reason when they hit the animals just drop. You won't be disappointed with a 260, they definitely punch above their weight, but then most of the 6.5s do.

Sectional Density is the relation between mass and cross sectional area. All calibres can have bullets of equal sectional density. For example a 130gn 6.5cal projectile has a similar SD to a 150gn 7mm projectile or 180gn 30cal. In fact a 120gn 6.5mm bullet (like you mate uses) has a relatively low SD but it obviously doesn't stop it killing animals.
Experience. What you get just after you needed it.
