Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

I’ve had my Blackout for two weeks. We’ve shot two deer, one goat and two hares with it. We used 190g subx for the big/medium game.

First deer was around 70 yards and ran in a 10 yarss circle before dropping on the ground. It was shot straight through the chest, front on. It was gasping when I walked over to it so I gave it one in the head. It probably would had died, it had heart/lung damage.

Second deer was 70 yards away and was shot side on high and quite far forward, almost in the neck. It dropped on the spot and was laying on the ground gaspinging when we walked up to it. We cut its throat and broke its neck, it may have died if we didn’t.

The goat was 150 yards away, using a VX2 LR reticle I knew it was dead on between the post and second dot. I hit it exact in the crease smashing its far shoulder, it was standing side on feeding. It ran 10 yards and we later could see blood pouring from a hole, on the far side, when it bleated on video. It ran another 10 yards and I dropped it with another side on shot at 150 yards. It would have bleed to death if left, I don’t think it would be a good idea to share the video.

My observations so far. I’m going to shoot a heap more big/medium game with it before I say to much more about the projectile.

With my Remington Tactical (or is it taticool) with a VX2 3-7 LR, I think 200 yards will be the maximum, I’ve proved that on steel. A VX5 With a CDS would be a perfect scope for this rifle and projectile at subsonic speeds in my opinion.

It’s good to see you guys getting into the deer with the blackout.
Yeah I’ve had the odd non instant kill with the Lehigh Defence 194gr ME handloads on deer, same deal fatal body shot instant collapse on the ground blood out the mouth gasping for air and finishing it off with a 208gr A-max to the skull. Not much different to bow hunting.

We’re pretty limited to the factory 300BLK subsonic ammo in NZ compared the the USA, anybody recovered a factory subsonic from a deer yet.?

I have no regrets what so ever switching to the 300BLK! Is an awesome round and super versatile with free switching between supers and subs, its now my main gun for all the hunting i do. I just switch rounds when required depending on how much range i need, but whenever possible i try to use the SubX as they're so effective and you can keep hunting as you don't disturb the whole valley spooking everything.

The SubX is awesome for pig hunting too as there easy on the dogs ears and they flatten pigs at the bail.

Not recovered a projectile as yet, also keen to see what the end product looks like. I tried to yesterday but it was heaving with rain, with intermittant snow and hail so couldn't be bothered fishing around too long for one

As craigc mentioned above, i had a few gusher wounds yesterday. Very impressed to say the least! Another animal had lung material blown out the side along with the "rest", ran all of 30m.
