Thread: 6mm ARC

It looks very interesting and on a mini action (L461/Mini Mauser/Howa Mini) could be a nice little rifle for a lot of my hunting, especially with Hornady offering factory ammo options like the 103gr ELX Precision Hunter loading - Anyone using one ?? Any comments/thoughts ?

I got one. Have not shot any deer with it yet but it very accurate and a joy to shoot. My one build by Jaco Goosen on a mini action and Criterion barrel. Shooting under an inch with 3 different bullet weights. Very happy with that

Duckhunter, it almost copies the performance of a 243Win with the same bullet weight
It seems like the 243 beats it by about 200fps, which is not to shabby at all.

Being build on a mini action it lends itself to being light and handy rifles. Get one, you wouldn't regret it.

been shooting one for about a year now have taken a fair bit of game with it fellow pigs etc Greg from custom guns built it for me. i really like it shoots great plenty of knock down for a small case super cheap to reload

How much work would be required on the bolt of say a Mini Mauser or Sako Vixen action to change to 6mm ARC?

Hey Duckhunter, in the past I converted a Sako Vixen from 222 to 6.5 Grendel. Bolt face is relatively straight forward enlargement, it's the mag box that'll be your problem as they are too narrow for a fat little case like the G & 6ARC. I imported a Sako PPC mag box, spring & follower from the US, then milled the action to accept it. If I can find my posts about it on the forum, I'll link it in.

I'm thinking about a Ruger predator now in a mdt xrs chassis instead of waiting for the howa mini

Gidday. That one is a Fox and as I understand it the mag well is a bit smaller than the later 527's (for which you can get the exact right mag for the x39 vae the 6 ARC is based on)
