Thread: 7mm Rem Mag Loading

What sort of loads are members running? Wanting to work up a reliable load for 24” barrel and pushing 168 gn berger. Any ideas on powders to use etc?

2217 or 2225, I will be working up a load when 168gn bergers are available again.

As Danny said 2217, 2225 are good in the 7mm Mag. I have also used 2213 SC with the 162 gr bullet and it worked ok. I am running the 162gr ELDX and 175 gr LRAB, out to 400 yds close to same point of impact need to try them out a bit further.

I'm running 2225 behind berger 168vld. Getting 3050fps out of a 21.5" barrel.

I found 2225 better than 2217 with 168s

When mine was 24" I used IMR 4831 as it didn't like 2217 with the 162 ELD-X. I now use Rel 23 in the 21" barrel. Anything 2217, 2225, Rel 23, Rel 26 etc be worth a shot.

I've run 2217 out of a 24" barrel sako with the 168 Berger's, 162eldm and Barnes 145g lrx, all shot very well, the Barnes exceptionally well but probably not an ideal bullet depending on your hunting ranges.

I ran 2217 through a 27" trueflite barrel with 162s was very good. But now running another trueflite 27" barrel with 2225 which is a real hammer with 180 eldms and very accurate at 2880fps

RE26 with 180 ELD-Ms in a 25” barrel gives me 2840 fps.

I tried 2225 but could only get 2400fps and 1 MOA changed to 2213sc now getting 2970fps and half MOA with Berger 168gr VLD hunting projectiles out of a 24inch barrel
