Hey fellas just wanted to know if anyone has gone to the trouble of putting a Limbsaver or something aftermarket on a RAR?
Getting a wee bit of muzzle jump at the range with my .308. Rifle is pretty light and I'm a rookie.
Cheers

A fellow American owner! Is that shooting off a bipod? I get heaps of jump off a bipod, I just live with it. I did a little research, a brake would obviously help with jump, or a suppressor, and a Limbsaver type thing to an extent. There's a lot to be said for technique too, before you run out and spend money it might pay to ask for help at the range? Or even just watch, observe positioning of guys and their rifles. If you aren't comfortable asking maybe just look on YouTube? Unfortunately I'm pretty green too so can't offer any practical advice haha
if shooting with a bipod, lie straight behind the rifle and lean into the rifle slightly to load the legs of the bipod a little, you will control the recoil better and the rifle will return close to your sight picture through recoil if you have a correct natural point of aim + strong position. A recoil pad won't really stop the gun jumping if you're not holding it correctly, it will just slow the recoil impulse so it feels softer.
Don't have a bipod at this stage, have been shooting off sand bags just using one hand while sighting in. Have looked into muzzle brakes also, after speaking with Robbie at gunworks he said he could make an alloy one and annodize it black to suit the rifle for $200. But it will be permanent, so not sure if I want to make that commitment.
Practice makes perfect aye, working my technique has helped with the muzzle jump. Cheers for the tips. Also changing ammo has helped my grouping, shot a 1" group at 100 yards with Federal 180gr. RAR with the 1 in 10 twist seems to like the bigger projectiles. My rifle on a budget may work out after all.
Hold that Forend!
Well worth a read, changed my shooting for the better
