    Akarana - City Rifle Club

Just joined this great little club. Been out to the range today and shot 2 rifles at 500yds. They have 2 electronic targets so no walking up to the butts to carry out marking duties. There are several of these ranges in the South Auckland area that shoot out to 800-1000yds. Money well spent if you are sick of shooting at 100yds and want a bit more of a challenge.
Sorry can't work out how to turn picture around but you get the general idea

Most fullbore (NRA) rifle clubs are now running the Silver Mountain targets. As Dermastor says, not having to mark targets is a great bonus. You get instant feedback on your tablet screen as to where the shot went and it even tells you exactly where the strike is in mm (vertically and horizontally) away from the centre. The grid is in MOA so you have all the info to make adjustments. It won't however make wind calls for you..

You need a known zero before you show up as they won't be very impressed if you shoot out a sensor microphone on the edges/corners of the target.

We have a 100yrd sight in range down the hill if you need to sort out a zero so no worries there. I will see you in the new year @Doubleshot I have load work and DOPE to gather for my newly rebarreled Mongrel 7mm Mag. I have a partner organized to shoot the NZ Mountain Challenge in March so its all go.

Yep you probably will, have some work to do with my 6.5x.284 and .300 Blaser Magnum, looking forward getting the DOPE sorted on them both.
