Thread: Another trip to the range.

I decided to go out to one of the other ranges in the area this morning to see where a couple of my rifles shoot after they have been sulking in the safe for a week or three & to sight in the 7-375R so I can take it hunting.
After I had sighted in the 7-375R at 100 I went to shoot the target I had put up on to discover it was hidden by branches
I went up the hill & sorted that minor dilemma which allowed even more time for the 7-375R to cool down.

I consulted Shooter & entered all the necessary data, then wrote down the conditions & elevation required for the three rifles I had with me for 618 yards
I shoot lying down with a bipod & rear bag, similar to what I would out in the feild.
My Barrett 98B 338 Norma was first up with 11.25 moa elevation, for the 300 Gen I @ 2780, for a 0.36 moa group



Off to a great start with good first shot placement

Then I shot the 7-375R with 9.25 moa for the 180 Hybrids @ 3150, for a 0.456 moa group



Reasonable first shot placement, not too bad for a 3.7kg rifle with scope.

Then I dragged the 338 Lapua Improved out with 9.6 moa for the 300 Gen II @ 3040, for a 0.85 moa group



Near perfect first & second shot placement only to have me wreck the group with the last shot....... bugger.

I achieved what I set out to do so I'm a happy camper, if it was a Deer I was shooting at all shots would have resulted in a fuller freezer

It is interesting to note the difference in ballistic performance of the bullets & how that related to the POI on the target.



The 180 suffered the most with the wind & it would have been interesting to see how the 162 would have gone in relation to it.

Up by the target the wind was blowing from right to left at around 3-4 mph but the wind travels down the gully & obviously does some funny things so if you dial for the perceived wind you are actually dialling the wrong way....... bugger.
