Anyone in Hamilton / Waikato with 100-500yards available?

    Hey guys,

Does anyone in the area have a 200-500yards steel or target setup up that I could possible come out and sight in and determine / comfirm drop data?

I have a 7mm08 with drop data that I want to double check and reconfirm plus a 6.5 Grendel that I am hoping to dial in a bit more.

Happy to bring a box of your brew and/or swing by Gun City or H&F and pick up anything on the way.

This weekend would be a bonus! But beggers cant be choosers.

Can ask my mate. We have plates at 433, 540, 721 and 821m on his farm as well as ply for paper at 100 and 250m. Might be a H&S issue with third party, though. Need to check.

Thanks @JaSa I am happy to go through any H&S induction processes if required.
And would definitely not be turning up unannounced.

    Please do keep me posted.

    Thanks in advance!

Try Hamilton / Whatawhata fullbore club. Goes out to 1000 yds.

@ebf noticed they had the open day recently!

Was very temped to head out, but had also read that it was target shooting rigs only, no hunting rifles.
Happy to be corrected if I misinterpreted this, and would be keen to head out there on their next event.

No mate, they are pretty relaxed. Some of them are looking at starting a PRS league later in the year. Only issue on some of the NRA ranges is if you use a brake.

@ebf & @Pew-Pew I got in touch with Hamilton Whatawhata Rifle Club through Facebook and they advised "Our shooting is 900 and 1000 yard target" and "We are quite restricted on what we can accommodate ; and the range being a busy farm is not open outside of club afternoons".

Unfortunately means I am still on the lookout for someone with a 100 - 500m setup.
Could even be willing to purchase and donate some Gongs if someone has the space.

iv been there with 7mm rem mag. they do or did "shorts days" up to 500. it's not always 1000. they never used to have electronic targets, but probably do now. they will want to know if you can shoot not too bad, as to not hit a sensor. if there going to be dicks make the trip to te puke for the day. 600 yards, well worth it.

@kiwi_adam, pretty much every club in the country shoots on Saturday or Sunday.

You need to fit in with the club program. If they are shooting 600yds the day you visit, you shoot 600yds... As mentioned above, most clubs would want you to demonstrate that you can hit the target at 300 before letting you loose on their electronics at longer distances.

Most club members are busy and want to use their time on the range to get is a bit of solid practice. A trick for new players is not to say "I want to zero my rifle". The person answering their FB messages probably gets 100 of these types of requests.

Before writing them off, maybe go to the club in person and have a go...

If you are something else, it would help to be pretty specific.

@kiwi-adam @Pav shoots over here at the Te Puke range you might be able to travel over together, We shoot 300 500 and 600.
    Hunting rifle is fine.

Pav started with his hunting rifle and now he's climbed into a jacket as well so shoots both rifles.
