    App to calculate grid references

    Hi all,

I am after an android app that calculates a grid reference of a point given a distance and bearing. Having spent a lot of time in past hunts searching for an animal shot from an adjacent ridge, I was wondering if an app existed that allowed me in to input a distance (measured from my range finder) and a compass bearing in order to give me a grid reference I can use to guide me on to a shot animal.

    Thanks,

Cant you just use a regular map and plot the bearing on that?
    Steve123 and Tangobravo like this.

Most Garmin GPS will do that. Project waypoint IIRC.
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

Yep, you've got it. Just gotta make sure the internal compass is calibrated first.

You have a rangefinder, a map and a compass, all you need right there.

Agree, and have done that. But would like to experiment with app also.

When you generate a grid reference it will need to be projected onto something, be it a GPS or a regular map. I think you're over complicating this.

Gps follow me forward, set point and go straight there or as others have said old school paper and compass. Works when the batteries are flat!
