    Don't try insert fully loaded mags with the bolt closed, it's not designed to be able to do that. You can with some more modern mags i.e. pmags.

    It was how I was taught NZArmy when I first handled m16s back in the 80s.(load,action,instant) others will remember this and its the same with the steyr, and yes it is easier to load with the bolt open.
