Area to practice shoot? (Bay of Plenty)

    Hi Guys,
I was wondering if there are any local farm/land owners who would be willing to let my brother and I practice shooting our rifles (.243 & .308, both suppressed) at 100 and 200 meters. We are responsible and experienced gun owners, looking for a safe and legal place to practice. If you know of any farm owners who might be able to help, please let me know. Thank you
    Jesse

    Hi Tibo,
I have been up there a handful of times, though I find it very hard to relax and focus with the time constraints & all the cannons going off 😄

soon you will not be able to simply practice on a farm.
you can sight in a rifle adhoc but simply practice no

best join your local range/club if you just want to shoot

I don't know how they plan to police the ad hoc thing i bet you its only there so if they get a complaint, they have the power to do something.
until now if your on a place you have permission to be on and your being safe it's hard for them to do anything. so my guess is they have just put something in the law to give them a bit more power if they get complaints.
the sad thing is it also gives your bitchy Neighbour more power to control what you do on your own land Aswell.

Another for joining a club. The days of practising shooting on farms is over. Of the top of my head I can think of 4 rifle ranges in the CNI area so you have options. Also join in their 4P shooting comps as these are great for developing skills and shooting under pressure. If you are into the long range stuff think about F Class which is shot prone from a rest with scope sighted rifles. It does not need to be a target rifle. All of the above will build skills . Just banging away in a cockies paddock will not.
    Best of luck Grandpamac.

Did you get your range ticket? I find it pretty good to be honest, usually alone and most of the time other shooter use a can.

There was an article or guide from NZ Police for shooting ranges (incl private farms) on here a few weeks ago

I still do my practice shooting in my backyard regardless but I keep it low profile and be respectful to my neibors.

Join NZDA and shoot on the Taupo Range, looks like, even under the new bullshit, it will be a user friendly range. I’ve used TECT park, I joined Taupo NZDA because of the protocol at TECT

If I want to shoot on my farm I will.
And if I want a mate or family member to shoot with me then they will.
I’ll visit you in prison, mate!
It’s hard to believe such a dumbass law is even suggested, I think there will a lot of disobedience, like the gangs

What’s the protocol you refer to? If you have a range Ticket you can use the range whenever you like
