ASRA vs RNZAF Service Rifle Trophy Shoot

This afternoon, the Auckland Service Rifle Association put up a team of 7 against an RNZAF team of 7 and won for the second year running. ASRA team ran AR15's with service class Optics and the Airforce team used their Steyrs.

    Course of fire was:
    1. Trinity, 3 position, 5 rounds per.
    2. Rapid, Standing, 10 rounds in 20 seconds.
    3. Action M, 2 mags 5 rounds per in 60 seconds.
    4. Assembly, assemble rifle, 10 rounds prone, 60 seconds.
    5. Loading, load 15 loose rounds into magazine then engage standing in 60 seconds.
    6. Mag-grab, grab 15 round mag from 10m away, load and engage sitting or kneeling in 60 seconds.

Or something like that. After a few beerzies at prize giving, coz it was HOT out there,
and some boer worst BBQ, my memory is a little fuzzy... Anyway, a good day and the Airscrews enjoyed themselves.

All shot at 100m out of fairness to the RNZAF lads who don't get out much. Pretty close match in the end but ASRA pulled it out of the bag.

    Ray.

Interesting to see all the civvies except back left point rifles into the air, and all the RNZAF guys pointing steyrs at the ground.

Looks like a fun day, always good toget the forces or police invited to shooting compos

Here's hoping we get a army team competing in next years NRA nationals.

Haha, yes, he's a forestry and fencing contractor. I don't think he uses a rammer on posts, he just mashes them in with his fists

I was invited along to this by Dogmatix, though arrived late...
Anyway we (myself and the kids) watched the first round of shooting, it it looked great fun, and all were a nice bunch.
I new it was a bit much to ask for two days shooting in one weekend from the wifey! ...but she was very nice to let me go! so a big thanks to the other half!
Below are some pics of the first shoot.
Note the use of the 2L icecream tubs!
    Cheers Grant
