I had major issues with the steel mags not feeding later.
Surprising, as they are Stoner ones.
Rounds fed fine from the poly mags.
Yeah, brass drops at your feet. Could make the defelctor a bit smaller and add a bag, just haven't gotten around to it.

Theres a few pointing in a position other than a safe direction. Not a good look.
I dont see what the big issue is, being service shooters the rifles will be cleared and probably have chamber flags inserted. Putting your rifle in a gun bag and carrying it still results in it being pointed at someone.
While I agree it is not a good look.
I don't think it is a big deal at all.
Have several photos myself of military shooting teams/personnel with their weapons pointed in others general direction. Arched over trophies etc
Can't speak for the civies present in the photo but pointing your weapon in a safe direction is not really what the military is about. Impossible to patrol properly without a muzzle waving across the path of another individual.

Love how everyone is a firearms safety expert for what is obviously a posed photo with checked and cleared rifles.
Never mind the fact that you see better and safer handling by shooters here than at most rifles ranges and certainly than in the bush.
I wonder how many arm chair safety experts also hunt with a half bolt/cock on rifles never designed to have that accidental feature instead of a designed and tested safety or even worse, decock the bolt and have the firing pin resting against the primer?
Whats worse is 8 of the shooters don't have hats on. My god don't you people know we have a hole in the ozone here! and why is the poor chap on the far left (of the pic) kneeling, cuffed behind his back? had he been naughty?

Photos are misleading by their very nature. Whenever you feel the need to be superior about rifle safety when looking at a photograph on the interweb (and it is suprising how many people who want to be) please remember a photograph is flat. Quite flat. Unlike the real world. The rifle barrel circled is probably pointing behind the other shooter, and you cant prove it isn't because you dont have three dimensions.

It was a good day I'm sure for the shooters, i missed out as was a little late, even though my bang stick was in the boot.
As for safety I overheard the end of the RNZAF breifing in them reinforcing "lets keep it safe today..." or something to that effect...
The rotating range officers also took safety seriously in inspecting all rifles at the end of each shoot.
Brought back memories from my Army days seeing those good old Steyrs in action. :sarge:
