Thread: Best subsonic for Remington 597

Hi. Anyone have any info on this? I use CCI minimags ang they work great but I am going to a spot where I need to be a bit quieter.

CCI subs shoot well in most guns, give them a try or the winchester blue box, which I believe is now black or something?

CCI subs shot well in my 597 but not so great on killing factor on rabbits... No expansion... rabbits would run a far bit then fall over. Really stood out when shooting a rabbit beside a wooden fence... several shots as it hopped along... Heard it hit the rabbit then fence on three shots before it keeled over. Seam to work good enough on possums though

The Aussie made Winchester subs have a bigger hollow point, better expansion.

Hmmm, whadda you know, im wrong again.

I tried it once, and it way supersonic out of my sportco, but its actually rated at 1070 fps, or subsonic.

I think the barrel is quite long on my sportco but nothing out of the ordinary. Haven't got any left to try.
