That cant be right. As stubby as a 357 125 grain is, a 22LR with CCI stingers at 1600fps has better trajectory than that. And both bullets have similar ballistic coefficient.
The trajectory just off the velocity and BC is going to better than most 22WMR loads.
Off a shooting calculator
125 HP Federal JHP, ballistic coefficient .140.
100 yard zero
Peak height less than 1 "
Drop 4" at 150 yards.
Personally I zero my 357 for about 100 yards like this. Being a 4 moa red dot and the gun shooting about 3moa I dont try and shoot too far anyway, but I have taken pigs to 150 yards.
All the 1000ftlbs energy minimum stuff the yanks talk about for deer is a little over the top too. At longer range the shock power of the 357 drops off yes but its still killing. For the record the 357 can be pushed to 1500ftlbs at the muzzle from strong actions like the Marlin 94 and Rossi/win 1892 too.
You are correct! Too used to converting imperial to metric, I took the ballistics table values in cm and multiplied them by 25.4 thinking they were inches
That said, I still sight in at 75m because I'm using open sights and its about the best I can do with my eyesight.
