A bit of medium range shooting with the 375 Lil' Terminator.

After some pressure from another forum member I thought I would do short story while I wait for the photos from the hunt that my mate took on his i-phone after the ghost photos he took with my camera...

When I get them I will put a better story in the magazine section.

Got an Email Wednesday night a mate was short of meat so a plan was hatched.
Loaded some bullets Thursday & shot up the range that night to confirm zero.
Jumped in the Monaro early to get to destination by 6am, should have taken the Hilux.....
Got to the location, my mate found some ghost deer in the early morning light, 10 x 30s can't keep up with 10 x 42s
Then he found a Stag , I ranged it, got the angle & entered it into the PDA, after already loading the other data.
Found a suitable shooting position & BOOM...

    Bugger I fell over....

    Shooting position after the action.

I also got one of his girl friends

3 shots, 3 hits, 336 grains of powder, 1200 grains of copper, 20 degrees, 725 yards

Ps I have heard through a "very reliable source" that these style bullets don't kill...........plonker !!!!
    Spanners and veitnamcam like this.

My next reply reminds me of the opening scenes of Mad Max where we find Max asking Goose if theres "much damage?"

The Nightrider replies "you should see the damage, bronze"

So do you have any pics Kiwi Greg???

No worries there Rich, it is fairly heavy but a good brake makes all the difference, my Daughter will be shooting it in a couple of weeks

You must have exceptional hearing, and this is a genuine question.....what do they sound like out past 800?

My 223 with 60g NBT's(3200fps) start tumbling past 900yrds and I cant hear them.

Greg - can you provide another pic or two of rifle and some specs. .375 is a massive slug for NZ conditions - great to hear it performs so well.

    Ideal bunny rifle really..

probably worded that wrong, was shooting 800 target could hear them tumbling down range, very high pitched whizz saw one hit the deck aswell,
they were the 300 GR. LD HPBT-MAX , does stipulate a 1:9 minimum but rpm worked out to be just over 231000rpm they state minimum rpm as 220,000rpm, so im thinking someting with a 1;9 @3300fps, might put numbers through see what stability factor is.

    Fairly expensive bunnie gun

    Pill $3.75.
    primer $0.08.
    powder $1.00
    Brass $0.60, assuming 10 firings.
So a whole $5.43 Kiwi per round or less if you know where to get stuff........

Barnard P-Chey, XLR HD Chassis, NF scope, T3 Terminator brake.

    400 grain pill, 0.99 BC, @ 2920, 375 grain pill, 0.94 BC @ 3000 ish, 350 grain pill, 0.89 BC @ 3100 ish.

Makes all the 338s look average at best & it wasn't that long ago they were considered to be a big gun on the top of the heap ballistically, but no longer.......

The damage this pill makes has to be seen to be believed, unlike anything I have ever seen, I get the same comments from others who have seen the pictures

I'm really looking forward to it's big brother, another 3-400 fps should really make things interesting & leave the other calibres even further behind........
