Thread: Black powder - youse bastards coulda warned me!

Too long ago I re-caught the BP bug of @akaroa1 - only was 2-3 years ago I scored a Gracia New Zealand made percussion rifle in 45.

Finally go round to shooting it today, it's a crappy sort of drizzle with lots of wind so since SWMBO was out I shot off the deck. That went well.

Then I thought I'd better clean it. Missus still away. Kitchen sink is within arms length of the deck so the barrel went straight into hot water. It had been close to 35 years since I cleaned a fouled BP rifle. Oops. I had a very thorough clean up after putting the rifle away . . . . But our bench top is a sort of white imitation marble with a blackish streak through it.

She is just home and OMG for a very calm and normally placid person . . . I TELL YA, it is the last time I clean a BP rifle in her kitchen!
