I have a Brno 243 that I reckoned needing bedding and the barrel floated, as it didn't shoot anywhere near as well as its big sister (same model and year in 308) that is bedded in a fibreglass stock.
A couple of weeks ago I had a go at bedding the rifle myself, and on Sunday got to the range to see if it made any improvement.
Pre-bedding the rifle would shoot occasional sub-MOA groups, but not consistently.
Bubba's bedding job...
Here are the group results, warts and all. All three shot groups at 100m unless otherwise stated.
90gr ELD-X
Load one 1.55 MOA
Load two 1.21, 1.33
Load three 0.55, 1.23
Load four 0.86, 0.57(200m)
Load five 0.51, 0.87(200m)
100gr Prohunter 0.49
87gr Hornady SP 0.24
I could explain away some poor shooting by pointing out I had shoulder and neck surgery last Monday, but I won't (because I just did!)
