Welcome along Lucy. I've got a good mate from Tazzy, he's ex forestry and a great hunter. Not a bad place to grow up.
Welcome. I was in Oz 10 years and never made it to Tassie. Good mate of mine still has a house rented out down there (cant remember where).
always meant to get down for a look. I'm from the west coast (south island- but if you say you are a coaster, it means from there) and some of the bush looks a lot like down there.
Does Waikato really dissolve bricks, its horrible beer but I didn't think it was that bad??
(I suppose it could depend on what sort of brick you were thinking of??)
I once threw a brick into the river of the same name. It dissolved before hitting the bottom in just 2 meters of water.
The so called beer is made from the same noxious water, so I guess it would have the same effect![]()

It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms
Welcome TheWuce, great to hear a bit about you and yes a sense of humor as well. Looking to forward to further posts.
"ars longa, vita brevis"
Enlighten me please: are these the ones that insist on appropriate safety protocols in a group environment on a shared range ?
What would be different if you paid for a private booking ?
Which of the organisations that use the Kaitoke range are you a member of ?
These are questions that I would want to have answered before considering letting you onto my property with a firearm. If "dealing with" means sharing then if you pick your times & conditions you can often have the place to yourself.

No they're the group of old retired guys that talk shit about me and passive aggressively try to get me to leave the range because I am female, young, using semi automatics and because they just want the range to themselves. They are the stereotypical old boys who set up their $3000 bolt actions, range finders and chronos and then gather in a circle to talk about reloading and glare at me for shooting when they are trying to talk. They will show up as a group when I am already there, get annoyed at for being there because they expected the range to be empty and then start mouthing off under their breath with misogynistic bullshit and how "that little shit" is going to ruin their range day by shooting semi autos.
They are the only group of people I have problems with, most of the people that use the range are great but those old assholes seem to be there most days of the week just standing around talking and getting annoyed at people for actually shooting.
I'd pay $80 for a four hour booking, shoot for an hour and then leave. Four hours is the minimum booking but I don't have that much free time in one chunk to shoot on weekdays.
Deerstalkers
I try and sometimes do get the place to myself but I don't even mind sharing the range, it's just that one group of old assholes that I try to avoid but they always seem to be hanging out there like it's their social club house.
I must say @TheWuce your comebacks have been smoking and on point throughout this thread. Touche' ... I hope you find yourself a farm to shoot and some friends to boot. This is a great place to find information and share your stories. But...you will find young and old 'assholes' everywhere you go be it the range or the forum. Most of who probably aren't assholes at all. Humanity is some what of a scourge at times. Welcome aboard comrade!

In these respects I think she has done what is right for her and made a smart decision. These arseholes can be everywhere, but I think she has made the right decision in avoiding them. I know the sort of person she is talking about (but not the actual ones) and they are more unable to realise people like her are the future of their precious club.
I have seen similar comments and views expressed around some of our clubs chinese members as they rock up with a couple E cats and enough ammo to take on a 3rd world dictator. (I think a little jealousy may be involved too) But credit to the new members, they have spent money on ammo and come to the range to enjoy their sport. So what if I cannot understand 90% of what they say. I can 100% understand the smile on their faces.
@TheWuce Its a shame you are not in CHCH. I think you would fit in very well at the local Handloaders club.
Sorry Tim,
Have to take issue with that-
When they can't fucking understand the range instructions, when they handle fire arms like they drive, I have a monster sized issue with it, some one on our range is going to be killed or injured by one, sooner or later. When I see more than one Chinese fuckstick with a rattle gun on the range I fuck off.One I can keep an eye on. A couple of times I have had to take fire arms and give it (the retarded owner) a scorching before giving it back. I know one that is actually a gun nut and long ranger, and he is all good, but the rest? The arms officers should hang their respective heads in shame at the ease with which they hand out FAL's. The Gun City mob should hang their heads in shame when they know some of the retarded fuckwits they give guns to, are a liability.
You want me to post examples on here?
