    You have registration,
    you can only use the firearm that's on your registration papers, to some degree yes no. You can use an estate rifle and you also have a 42/72 hour loan widow with shotguns
    if the cops don't think its valid you may not get papers to buy another rifle if its the same calibre as one you already own. Only with rifles you can buy as many shotguns as you want. Id imagine that comes down to the officer in charge, not necessarily the law. Yep
    when prosecuted for firearms offences you get a penalty for each cartridge that you illegally own. Yes maybe NZ needs this one.
    For many years there has been a power limit for air guns. Yes once it’s over a certain power you need to put it on your firearms ticket.
    You are limited to what shotgun ammo ie solids unless you have the right certificate/license Yes never quite got this one?
    semiauto and pump rifles are only permitted if they are a rimfire-no centerfires
    pistols used for sporting reasons were banned years ago. No you can still use a pistol for humane dispatch.
    Its way harder there than here
    @csmiffy see underlined
    Yes you have pretty much summed it up correctly. But my point was getting the ticket be it shotgun or firearms ticket (They are not one and the same! You have a right to a shotgun ticket, and it’s a privilege to a firearms ticket) is a lot easier.
    When I went for my NZ firearms license it was way harder. Once you got it it was a lot easier.
    There are good and bad points to both the NZ and UK systems.
    For one I think that the UK should introduce the seven rule test system and spousal interviews.
    The register is a joke and should be got rid of. They have made it easier with rifle ammo I can now buy expanding ammo.
    But they still have some funny stuff that’s hard to get your head around. Like for instance I can buy all reloading stuff without a license? Primers powder brass. You only need a license once it’s assembled.
    The rest of the uk firearm license system was designed to keep the wife happy so you can’t impulse buy.

    Hope this worked this time it seems to be having a fit with me. Cheers S

    I respect your beliefs but don't impose them on me.
