    Chch Handloaders Range

    Hi Guys,

Are any member of the Chch Handloaders club going to the range over the coming 2 weeks and wouldn't mind me tagging along (will pay the visitor fee and happy buy a box of beers for your time). I understand they have the public nights on Tuesday but would prefer to sight my rifle in on a 200m range rather than the 100m on the public night.

    Cheers,
    Matt

Only members who have done a verification/qualifaction shoot can use the 200m range, no visitors/guests is my understanding

You are completely correct @Ben-tard - only qualified members are able to use the 200m range.

If you want to verify your zero at longer range @MattG you could go to Sparrowhawk if they're opening the front range - usually on a Saturday. You can shoot out to 300m from a covered firing point.

Thanks for the reply all, I might just have to make do with 100m or see if I can make it to the Sparrowhawk day.

The North Canterbury Deerstalkers are opening their range from 6.00pm - 8.00pm on Wednesday evenings in the lead-up to the roar to allow hunters to ensure their rifles are sighted in correctly.
    Dates:
    Wednesday 5th March
    Wednesday 12th March
    Wednesday 19th March
    Wednesday 26th March
    Cost - $25.00 per person (NZDA Members - $10.00)
Please remember to bring your firearms licence, hearing protection and a small padlock to secure your firearm in the racks.

With the normal public days generally Second and last Saturday of each month, 10am – 4pm. Check “Dates for your Diary” on the home page

They typically have at least one Open Range Day on the long range setup per month other than the calving/lambing season. Sometimes the Front Range is open for sighting in on paper and shooting steel up to
    300m.

On the long range firing line there are steel targets from 400ish metres out to 2000m. There are a variety of targets from 400 to 600m that are great training and educational tools (to shoot with your hunting rifle) to learn about exactly how the wind is going to mess up your shot!
