    customising my blr

Can anyone give me ideas on cost to rebarrel a blr. It's in 243. I'm thinking I'd like a tighter twist barrel, thicker and shorter. I'll be putting a locally made can, made up here. Not sure if anyone else uses them. made by a fella, Ard sharp(i think). He makes them in threaded sections so you can adjust up and down depending on what you're after. The one I've used was excellent and as light as my G/works ones.
What calibres would be my options for this rebarrel?

    Cheers

    a 1:8 260 would be handy...120's for goats and 140's for deer

handy rigs but the Mag is expensive if Purchased over here Mate is putting one back together that he got in bits, making the stock, going to be a short 308

Is 260 a short round suitable is it?
I can't find any details anywhere about and the owner and myself had a bit of a disagreement so he ain't so helpful. Each piece was about 5/8" thick and threaded into the next link. Same weight(if not better due to being able to limited the size to the sound you want). Tried taking all of them off and using the start and end only. Was pretty noisy but still better than open. Looked good too. I'll find out what his number is and whether there's any photos anywhere. I want him to break the action down for me so I know what to do as they're a bugger to clean.
At what length would a barrel in 1:8 stabilise what sort of size bullet? Also how much generally?

I guess you wont be wanting LR pills so 260 with 140 soft points will be very similar to 243 with 100gr pills in length, I ran 206 in a model 7 with no issues for a while before I made it , I haven't seen the BLR mag yet as it hasn't arrived but it should be fine

6.5x47 lapua is shorter with similar results but you wouldn't want to loose brass as its farkin expensive

Cool. Thanks Cowboy. The .260 is the same case as the .243 just necked up to 6.5mm so if your BLR .243 at the moment then .260 is just a case of a new barrel.

Cheers guys, Any ideas on cost of barrels? has anyone ever gone full over barrel sup? Seems like it may be a little pointless but interested in what they're like.

Vulcan barrels are fairly cheap. Good reports so far too.
