So far Ive shot a 14 with a CZ457 and a 12 with the Winchester M52 . . . Its a lot tougher than it looks! Ill post my targets if theres any interest (signified by committing to post a rarget yourself).
i have been waiting to get to range to try . im finally going on friday will be interesting how my old 10/22 and cz 452 go
The Day At The Range guy muffed it real bad using a tricked 455 and CCI Greens. I would have been embarrassed to have posted the target.
Pursuit Of Accuracy guy much much better but it's obviously not easy.

I dont think there's any embarrassment until you've shot and posted the FIRST target you shoot in this challenge.

Its on some funny size. You need to set your printers scale to 100% (not scale to page) and I printed it on A4. Cheers
That 'fly swatter' challenge is more difficult than it looks.
The fly is narrow, so each heartbeat moved the reticle a little to the right and left of the fly.
I thought about swiping some beta blockers off my mother to slow my heartbeat down... but I suppose that would be classed as drug doping and I'd be branded a 'drugs cheat' :D

That's good going for the cost of the ammo. I'm tempted to "stir the pot" by suggesting the challenge be run on a handicap. Maybe something like "Your score x (20/cost of ammo used)" or something like that. Under this system my target shot with the M52 and RWS Rifle Match would be 12 x (20/16.5)=14.
Might even it up a bit. I see Bretta NZ has RWS ammo now, but not much will come my way at $24 for Rifle Match (just as well I got two bricks from Reloaders at the old price!)
Im ever so tempted to accept the challenge..and then use 2 rounds of #8 birdshot out of .12ga with my tightest choke LOL
I see that the flys are actually harmless 'Hover Flys' and not Blowy's
Beretta NZ is selling RWS R50 for $44.99 a box.
So each squeeze of the trigger is NZ$0.90... for .22LR Rimfire!!
Oh and I'm claiming number 21 and number 10 as hitting the body of the fly :thumbsup:
So that makes my score 13, surpassing the model 52 Winchester (unless this is disputed ... then bring it up before the judge and committee :D ).
All I'll say is it's harder than it looks. Any wind and all bets are off.
Had another go this arvo with Norma Tac-22, not really "top shelf" ammo and you can see it on the target, for example the missed shots on flies 21 to 23 are ammo fliers. There was a bit of wind but it is a manageable factor really.

I'd like to get this stock standard factory "plain jane" rifle up amoung the big boys like the Vudoos etc ( these heavy rifles with match grade ammo and are shooting in the 20 plus hits zone) and if I can get a re-supply of match ammo next weekend it just might be possible!
Is it 22 only? I only have an 17 HMR as far as rimfires go.
The cost of ammo multiplier would have me severely handicapped :D
I was only teasing about the ammo multi plier - it'd be great to see how a 17 went!

Great fun though. The Tac22 is usually better than this in the Lithgow but the trigger finger was crying enough - my excuse anyway!

I had an Annie Ultra/SuperMatch 54 (27 inch tube) that would have done that proud with R50
Shot a zillion rabbits and sold it for a T1X 16 inch
Must try it with the T1x

I noticed some Norma Tac-22 being used by a couple of shooters so thought I would give this challenge another go.
However this time I decided to increase my chances over the earlier used Norinco EM-332, by dusting off the old 1956, 27 1/2" bbl, Walther KKM from the back of the safe.
It was a perfect afternoon with no wind and a clear blue sky. However, the old girl wasn't ejecting the fired cases that well, so I went over the 5-minute time due to digging cases out of the chamber with a screwdriver.
Overall though I thought she shot well.
@Tentman you might have to dig out your BSA Martini to see if you can beat the score of 21. :thumbsup:

And here is the set-up, time limit was just met as I tried to wait out a puff a couple of times. Scope is an Element Helix 4-16 FFP, not ideal for this challenge really as a bit more magnification would allow one to aim off for wind, I just can't see enough to do that at 16x, whereas at 20 or 24x it's quite doable. However I want to take this rifle to the Element Optics open day at Sparrowhawk on the 23rd so it'll stay this way until after then . . . After that, maybe the Otika6 might get a run on it.

18 flies with a wind is very good shooting.
I'm only attempting this challenge when conditions are perfect as that damn fly is narrow... any wind does make for frustration. I was also shooting with the scope set at 32x.
Tentman have you found that the laminated stock improved accuracy over the synthetic?
Hard to be definitive about accuracy cause it'll shoot pretty consistently in the 0.3s at 50 with the "right" ammo in both stocks but it's definitely a bit more repeatable in terms of things like action screw tension etc. And wood is much nicer to the hand!Quote:
