Shes a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight Stainless, 24" threaded, currently shooting the standard factory offerings (ie 130gr Deer Season/Hornady CX Outfitters, 150gr Winchester SP)

I appreciate everyone's inputs, having facts layer out in front of me has helped narrow the list to some degree, I have much thinking to do, in the mean time the 270wsm will do the trick im sure

I also have a Rem Mag barrel for my R93.
I'm not a long range shooter and seldom shoot animals over a couple a hundred so don't really utilise either of them.
I'm almost tempted to try swapping the Rem barrel for a 3006(almost). Which people seem to have forgotten about. Great caliber.

Chuck a 20 inch barrel on your 70 in what ever 7mm mag you choose and add a can. Boom, can't go wrong!

Some of us are silly enough to have 280 rem

7mm08 has my attention at the moment but that’s only due to wanting to use a kimber over a tikka

stay with the 270 wsm, easier to find components for, kills same as the 7mms, it basically is a 7mm by another name..... will kill everything in NZ out to 600 at the least

    .270 is closer to 7mm than what a 7mm or .284 is

    .270 is 6.858 millimetres
    .284 is 7.2136 millimetres

    Buy a .270 if your a true 7mm fan

I grabbed a 7mm Rem Mag Tikka a few years ago. loaded up some Hornady 162gr to sub-MOA accuracy. Cronnied the load, developed a drop chart, and verified the drop chart on paper out to 450. Went hunting and shot deer out to 600. I didn't get hung up on any of the finer details. Didn't bother trying to get the last 50fps out of it, or anything like that. Deer just go stiff legs then fall over
I have it suppressed and recoil is quite tame. I can't quite spot my own shots, but it is pleasant to shoot.

7 Saums far from "dead" its the most efficent of all the 7mm magnums listed 7 prc will see heaps of support most 7 mags will be 9 5 twist which is good enough cant go wrong with any .284 options their about 284 times better than the 6.5s

Not according to my team mates who shoot SAUMs but it's possibly a case of can't get the brand they want. Either way, quite a few of them are shifting to 6.5 PRC-based chamberings.

Just sold a rem mag and went to the hells canyon LR to with the 1:8 twist so I can run some 195bergers just about to do some load development if it doesn't tick the boxes I'll be going to a 7mm prc once they are a bit more common
