Do they contain onion? If I give my 15 month old boy onions it's not good either.

This video is partially crap , I have all 5 DVD's , for wind doping do a search after Norway review of Art of precision rifle...you will get a much better simple and natural wind formula.

I shoot a .260 so wind formula is shit for me anyway. I liked his explanations of the way wind moves in valleys etc.

Stick with the 123 and 140gr bullets and the 260 is very easy to handle in the wind.
The hundreds x wind = clicks on scope.

Meaning
700 meters is 7 hundreds
3 m/sec wind
7x3= 21 clicks on scope.

The breaking point is 800 meters, do a +1 there.
For instance 900 meters is 9 hundreds +1 = 10 clicks per msec.

In terms of math, it is not absolutely correct but the error in the wind dope will hide that.

Im at the point where I have realized there are no quick fixes. Its an art not a science. If you have a flat range with wind flags the whole way then you can use a bit of math and quantify things from the flags.

But in nature, wind behaves like water in a river. Its like telling a fisherman or a jetboater there is an equation to read the water. Of course there is not. It takes time and practice to learn the swirls and eddies and where things will funnel in or spread out and slow down. A fisherman who knows a river well will look at a fast flowing turbulent section and know from experience that there will be quiet water at the bottom holding fish. Reading wind is that much harder because its invisible.

You quantify your math, test it somewhere consistent then get out and practice. Fire, and see what happens. Miss, and figure out why. Is there a powerful breeze tearing over that ridge half way down range? Is my projectile traveling through zero wind effect as the wind is turned down range by that hill side?

Only way to learn. And the more rounds you fire, the more you find out you don't know.

Learnt a heap about how.water moves when it hits an obstacle when i started kayaking. Observed it all a heap when fishing but when you start kayaking you really learn...catching the wrong rail and ending up updide down helps seal the lesson....
Seeing how eddies etc off a big obstacle cause opposite direction currents helps explain how wind shifts over obstacles and blows oppossite direction in places

Done a heap of kayaking and agree with the water moving bit completely.

I only know 1 LR shooter (7mmSAUM) and the thing that strikes me is the amount of practise that goes into learning the effect of wind properly from small calibres to big calibres ie getting the theory bit right and backing it up with thousands of rounds in all conditions and ranges...It's hard to get competent part time.

I feel like a lot of misses that are ascribed to wind are from bad shooting, as well.

Personally my biggest weakness and the hardest to fix is wind....and that's not cut down on the baked beans.

Any time you want to improve any aspect of something, you need to isolate other factors.

If you want to practice shooting unorthodox shooting positions, do it at short ranges. Take wind etc out of the equation.

Also, you do not always need to shoot to practice wind reading. A wind meter does that. Walk around different terrain, see what the wind is doing. Measure next to different plants etc. Lots you can do to improve your ability to quantify wind.
