We need more schools to participate or even run hunting and bush skills as a proper class

yip happened 2 years ago...if you know the area its not so strange afterall....went to high school in Taumarunui and many of us used to hunt possums each n every weekend. school kids in same area have been know to get school bus to stop so they can pick up roadkill possums to pluck.

A lot of rural schools are high decile, so get less funding from the government. A pest hunt raises a fair ammount of money in a short time. The same kids that murder pests use to also take part in calf club days with lambs and kids and calfs. Pest control or hunting does not make you a psycopath as you all know. If it does I would like to ask the idiot that wrote this shit why dont people who work slaughtering animals in the meat works dont come home every night and kill someone.

maybe we need to somehow show these sick persons what happens to animals when they are feed 1080 and how bad they suffer before dying because fuckwits like that think its the way it should be done and their children are ok to stay home and play war games on the internet THAT has way more influence of turning the younger generation into psychos like the fuckwit that shot those people Christchurch instead of learning for a start respect of what a firearm is and how to use them in a safe sensible manner at an early age and to help look after the environment we live in and to put pests down in a quick and fast end without prolonged suffering with the added bonus of putting chemical-free food on the table NEXT she will be telling us we should not be allowed to take our kids fishing the mind boggles FFS I betta stop ranting

OK I will say it. The writer needs to take a reality check, look closely at the photo’s in the article and take serious note of how chuffed the kids all look. Learning to hunt at the side of a knowledgeable ethical hunter is the birth right of every Kiwi kid.

I believe there be videos out there of dogs suffering in a cage after being given 1080. Awful. If you deliberately shot an animal leaving it to suffer like that you'd be before the courts no time and rightly so.
