Ok folks, thoughts?
Pros and cons?
T3 in 308 pts, 3shots touching at 100m wih factory stock, using hornady superperformance. Used on tree stands on Stewart island with some tight bush but mainly used in Canterbury for open tops...
Plastic fantastic is ok but want something different.
Other option would be the T3 in 223 for the same uses and options. (hares not redskins in Canterbury)
Have you not had more than one issue trying to get a boyds?

I would say go for dpt.
Having just fitted the Boyd's laminated thumbhole to my T3 in .223 I'm absolutely rapt. I'm not familiar with the DPT I admit but compared to the previous plastic Tikka stock there's absolutely no comparison!

I had a look at the DPT chassis in Greg's and it struck me as a pretty useful design (as a previous Ruger PR owner).
I bought a (used) 22-250 with a boyds thumbhole and thought, Great!
After shooting it, not so sure. Only had one outing with it but it practically climbs out of my forehand-hold. Never had anything like it.
A similar howa 1500, 308 in the regular hogue is tame as, by comparison.
Have to do a lot more shooting with it but definitely view the boyds as a little suss at the mo.

I have had several botds in the past and have a couple still. I like the Boyds and at the prices they used to be, they were good value (landed here around the $200 mark.) if not a little on the heavy side. Now with all the additional hassle I would lean towards the DPT. I rather like the look of them. If stretching to the DPT price, it is not much more to look at GRS which make Boyds look like slices of cheap plywood.
If you can find someone in the US to ship you a stock you could look at Richards Microfit stocks. Only downside to them is they have made the decision that they will not ship outside US so you need to order it to a US address. Drop shipping like youshop will not work either.
Considered an MDT lss? Comes in left. Super lite. Canada ships here. Use Lockhart tactical. Mine was opened by customs but didn't pick up for gst as they don't put price on pack.

I have a mdt lss, with a xlr stock - very nice kit, and the xlr stock is very adjustable. I like the set up and it shoots very well. (It is the right handed - correct sided - so left handed May be different... :) )Quote:
