Dunedin rifle range closed for winter maintenance

So... I just got my old sako 30-06 (previously owned by dannyb and joshy) back from a bedding job by a local gunsmith. Hopefully it shoots better now. And I also finally collected my newly purchased 223 (bought from mudgripz) and got a new scope (from Harryg) attached.
Awesome, time to go sight them both in and check everything is well.
Turns out the local leith valley range is closed for two months, from this saturday!!! Last time was over christmas, when i'd just received my 30-06 and was itching to shoot it, and they closed for ages then too. Bad luck!!
Unproductive rant over. I must make more farmer friends, till I find one that has a good spot to shoot a rifle.

To my knowledge there are more ranges in Dunedin?

But Leith is the only one that is open to the public (on select dates as indicated on the otagodeerstalkers webpage)

I think Bruce Rifle Club still exists. I emailed them the other day and it sounds quite tricky to get access, unless you are friends with an existing member and can accompany them.

Less than 2 hours from Dunners to Sparrowhawk. Contact Nic and see which days are open, and make a road trip of it with guns and lots of ammo.

if you will go to sparrowhawk, you may need to check with Nick to see if they can supply you with 100m target for zero. Normally the minimum target distance is around 150-300m.

Have a chat with nick, he might be able to squeeze you in on 100m range before heading out to long range.

I'm in a similar position finally got my .223 sorted and keen to head up... But knew the winter shut down was coming.

The Real Guns range in the Cardrona Valley is an option, has a great gong set up as well as a 200m range
Although a fair haul just to sight in a rifle. I pop in only if I'm up that way.

You're all welcome to visit on us at the Invercargill Rifle Club - paper and gongs to 600Y. Programme and contacts on FB under Invercargill Rifle Club (give someone a yell if you want to visit and shoot on a specific day, we can usually accommodate such requests)

If you're really lucky, Tentman might even shout you a cuppa tea while you're there.

Probably a month or so. Their website will say, or their Facebook page.
Search leith valley rifle range on Google
