BOP NZDA have a unofficial 100m target that will be close, you will need to be able to print A3 for the size to be correct.
As far as I am aware there is no 3P target just use the NZDA target for the distance you are shooting.
I have a pdf of the 50m one as well.

I only shoot a .22LR at present, and haven't tried on paper, but can nail rabbits comfortably out to about 90 paces. I sight in on paper at about 15m, prone, off a rest, putting all shots in one hole. After I shoot a coke bottle top to bits, offhand, then consider myself done.I use a Marlin Model 60SS, with a Tasco 2-7 x 32. With the lower magnification, I regularly drop movers too. I have always practiced offhand, as often a prone or sitting shot hasn't been an option.

Could anyone point me to the NZDA 4P equipment rules pls ?

Particularly interested in technical rules such as

    rifle weight
    trigger pull limits
    any scope magnification restrictions ?

Using that with a tripod and all the other cool toys, maybe...
Ethical hunting means shooting within personal ability. 8 MOA on the range is likely to double if a quick shot is required in the field.

My range target is printed on A4. Point of aim is 6 o'clock @100m with grouping 2" above poa.Name: lB2IeSD-pig-clipart.jpg

At the Wanganui shoot we were limited to a max of 10x
No restriction on trigger pull or weight but you couldn't use a rifle with a heavy barrel. Basically a sporting /hunting rifle/ scope configuration

Standing I don't bother trying to hold on it, for some reason swing on to it and bang works, the reward of the tactile response of an exploding bottle is great practice for standing offhand on a runner. Can't shoot the damned paper that way for some reason, but gimmie something to blow up, I'll get it every time!
Agree. Paper targets are useful for sighting in but not much else. Reactive targets such as plates tend to be bullet magnets.

One of the best drills was a paper target with a metal plate to the right at 100m (or further if required). The scenario was the first shot had missed/wounded the animal and a rapid second shot was needed to end proceedings. On the signal, the shooter from standing position would have 3 seconds to fire at the RHS metal plate after first shot on paper. One learned to reload fast and get the next shot off accurately under pressure. Most people find the left to right swing very difficult to master. The RHS metal plate had a better hit rate than the paper.

Sadly metal plates are considered too dangerous on most ranges. Water bottles will have to do.

No support other than your own body - so no sling, bipod, bags etc. Just good old traditional shooting.

For each of the 4 positions, what would your realistic accuracy expectation be for a 5-shot group ?

On the prone side, I would be pretty happy with 4 MOA (fist sized group) for 5 shots at 100m

the more internet you read, the smaller the groups you will expect.

Realistically, if i can hit one of my 8" gongs off hand standing between 50 and 100 yards, and hit the same gong sitting to 300 an prone to the same or more I'm happy. i hardly shoot deer offhand over 50 yards anyway, beyond that its mostly ambushing them and I'm likely to have a decent rest. i did neck shot a stag a few roars ago with my 308 offhand on 3x while it was running on a slip 200 yards away, but that probably wont happen again lol.

If you can't kill it with bullets, dont f*ck with it.

    Greetings ebf,
I can no longer find the "NZDA National Shooting Rules and Instruction Manual" on line but from an old copy Centrefire Free Rifle is Any rifle, chambered for any calibre and not exceeding 8 kg in weight. Centrefire open rifle is the same but without weight restriction.
Locally we also shoot deer targets under the Wilkinson Cup rules restrict weight to 4.1 kg and scopes to 12 power. Slings, palm rests and but hooks are not allowed
    Regards Grandpamac.

You could just be correct. You are the second to recognize the person from a description of the target.
