Interesting question. I had a look at the NRANZ rules, and nothing obvious about it being outside the rules.

In T2.1 they mention manually loaded action

and in T2.7 Magazine: In countries where magazines are legal, a magazine will be permitted provided it is
only used as a loading platform for single rounds.

Mags definitely legal here, seen several FTR rifles with them.

What twist Res ? You'd need 1:9 or preferably 1:7 to stabilise heavier projectiles to get out beyond 600yds.

The Americans run some interesting AR based space guns in their high power comps.

Be worth it just for shits and giggles, reckon some of the NRA NZ oldies would have a minor stroke when they see a semi on the mound

    I'm running a 22" truflite 1 in 8 twist using 77gn smk
Have shot it to 600m+ a number of times
I'm loading to fit the rounds in any of mag but if I load up some ammo to only fit h&k mags could probably shrink the group sizes a little more.

@tuiman have a look at a seb neo if you want a really good front rest, around a 12month wait but well worth it,
