    Film: Accuracy test

A test without mercy. One shot, the deviation from absolute centre defined as MOA (MIL would be preferable as you see it through the scope) and not "...pretty close" or whatever. Most shooters find that they need a target size 1-2 MOA (0,3 to 0,5 MIL) in order to hit it reliably under most conditions.

Its the only true way to measure. No point having tiny groups that don't hit the target eh

    Thanks!

Yes, one shot placement is what matters for us hunters. I'll be campaigning that for a few months and see what response/ awareness that'll bring.
Frankly, Im a little tired of the internet's obsession with "0.5 moa rifles"

I think we confuse the terminology..

An accurate rifle ....... vs an accurate rifleman...

You can have the first without the second, and you can have the second with some variation on the first...

Personally I like an accurate rifle... and then I only have to worry about the idiot pulling the trigger..

Hard to hit a 1-2moa plate with a rifle that will only shoot 3moa tho.
How else should one quantify a rifles ability to put a number of shots in the same place?

Too much focus is on bragging about your rifle shooting .273 moa 3 shot groups and not enough on "I can hit a practical sized target with it consistently". Obviously a degree of precision is required but there's "enough" and then there's "internet group syndrome"

Unless you have a complete lemon, I find its more the me factor that lets the side down,
All my guns are very accurate.....sometimes I'm very average and precision goes all over the show.

Can I ask if those shots you filmed were the first shots out of that rifle that day ?
Were they from a fouled barrel or from a squeaky clean one ?

No matter how good a hunting rifle is I can't see how it can make a steel plate taste better than a deer.

Agree, nothing better than venny in the freezer, but plenty of practice means there's a lot higher chance of that deer making the freezer
I hunt most weekends for meat to feed the family and friends all the practice gives me the confidence in any conditions to put the pill in the right spot which is what its all about.

I crack up at people that harp on about things like "7mm08 is better than .308 cuz it shoot's flatter" then they run shitty soft point factory ammo that totally negates that statement in the real world. And they wank about getting sub moa groups when they never shoot anything past 100yds.

This is why I love service rifle shooting - it gives you a very practical demonstration in what basic rifles are capable of on real world size targets

    What targets do they use?
