    Have you tried the two stick setup instead of the tripod?

    Thinking about making one, to much scrub around this place!

    Yes, it is ok for kneeling/sitting position. I think the model I used was called "safari stix" or similar, collapsible and extremely lightweight. Ok for shorter range, I find that the tripod helps with balance as it will hold you when you lean.

    Both work fine, just a little more versatility in the tripod. I also use the tripod when I need a "high bipod", that is prone with backpack under chest to get over the shrub.
