Congratulations Colin on cleaning up all the F Class silverware at Trentham last week! This is even more notable considering Colin only picked up his new 7mm/300WSM and ammo two days before the competition started!
Way to go Col!!! I know you're trying to play it down and call it beginners luck, but sorry, that just doesn't cut it. You held it together for the whole week and that ain't luck! That was some shootin' in some testing conditions!!

Yes I ended up having a very enjoyable week of shooting :)
In late August I decided I wanted to contest the Ballinger Belt series and enter for the first time in F-Class. I hadn't really shot for the last couple of years due to family commitments and as I was thinking about heading to Perth I wanted to do two things,
1. Build a 338 Lunatic
2. Win the Ballinger Belt series in F-Class
I normally have all my work done by Mitch Maxburry, his build quality is amazing, but having being very impressed with the work I have had done by Greg and his team at NZHunter in the past I though I would give them a go for this special task.
It was then I contacted Greg and his team about options on a serious build that had very specific criteria in accuracy and repeatability.
in short the rifle had to be a 7mm and shoot the 180 hybrid Berger's, keep a very small group for an extended shot strings of 12 plus shots fired in a short time window and be convertible into a 338 Lunatic :D
Many options were discussed from the super fatso to final choice 7-300WSM which performed flawlessly.
The rifles final build consisted of: a Barnard P-Chey action, sitting in a Edge A5 stock with a True flight Barrel and a March 5-50x56 sitting on top
Getting quality brass was a problem but Greg managed to source 50 Nossler 300WSM brass, we had to shoot around 48 shots a day, which meant I had to brass prep and reload each night.
Norm and Greg did the load development and fine tuned the brass, rifle and load, plus sorting out extraction issues.
The conditions at the competition were very challenging with heavy rains and extreme winds. One of the fellas had a wind meter which showed the blowing 25 to 35 Mph just before the start.
All in all, it was lots of fun, with a big thanks to Greg, Norm and Ian for going the extra mile on this one
next step, convert it to 338 :P
