Thread: Full bore rifle ranges in Southland

Hey, I've just moved down to Southland and I the farm I'm on now doesn't have anywhere I can sight my guns in or do load development.
I've looked around online but can't seem to find any ranges near Invercargill.
Does anyone down here have any they can recommend? or if there aren't any, does anyone know a good spot for rifle work?
Obviously I can get by with just 100m but I would like to stretch out to 500m if there is anywhere.

Maybe a bit of a drive for you but there is a range in Te Anau, targets/plates out to 520 yards from memory, have to be a member but cheap membership fees, look up Fiordland Firearms Club

So @Kiwi-Hunter, i been in Invercargill couple times last month and was advised i couldn't try any of the guns i had with me at the time because the range or ranges over there are for Members only or only work on the weekends.
Please can you tell me if you or any other in here if has any place in between queenstown and invercargill where is possible to shoot short or long range excepting the already mentioned TeAnau?

They are for Members only and the main range only works on the weekends. but the public can come along and join as an associate member
But in saying that, it is shut to September and under going a new permit.
If you have a suppressor I will let you onto mine depending on what's going on around here. one time offer with no fees
There must be little spots around QT your NZDA blokes will have somewhere to rip a few off.

What do you mean by the real deal?
I would have thought coming down here that there would be heaps of gun guys and ranges would be everywhere.

Most people down here just shoot on farms.

I might just have to use the pine block as a back stop, all the other farms I've lived on have had hills which seems much safer.
Who's the go to guy round here for reloading supplies? the only gun shops I've seen so far has been a pint sized Gun City and the same old Hunting & Fishing.

Don't know about the Invercargill shops, but Shooters World in Gore is good.
