So @Kiwi-Hunter, i been in Invercargill couple times last month and was advised i couldn't try any of the guns i had with me at the time because the range or ranges over there are for Members only or only work on the weekends.
Please can you tell me if you or any other in here if has any place in between queenstown and invercargill where is possible to shoot short or long range excepting the already mentioned TeAnau?

They are for Members only and the main range only works on the weekends. but the public can come along and join as an associate member
But in saying that, it is shut to September and under going a new permit.
If you have a suppressor I will let you onto mine depending on what's going on around here. one time offer with no fees
There must be little spots around QT your NZDA blokes will have somewhere to rip a few off.
