Amazing. It went right through that paper at that distance.
Still have the 'hots' for a 6mm Rem/6mm AI with a 1:8" twist. :ORLY:
But have a 308W shooter, so might be 'seduced'. :wtfsmilie:
This guy can shoot - that's for sure.
Couple od things, crappy old Kiwi action
My 6mm Creedmoor is just a little slower with the same projectile & 10" less barrel, so it must be a mildish load :D
Bloody great shooting :)
So help a blind old bugger out. What distance was that grouping done at?
Interesting he full length sizes every load and uses an expander for consistent neck tension.....the opposite of common thoughts on consistent accurate loading
Yes but he manufactures his own dies, custom made to a close fit to his chamber and probably not too much neck tension, definetly a long way away from your standard RCBS full length sizing die.
Gotta love the 243. Little fella punching well above its weight.
just stepped into the world of 243 i really like it it will end up being the go to rifle once i get it to feed reliably
The big problem with the .243 for long-range competition is the short barrel life it cuts out barrels worst than the 6.5x284 it's ok for Whidden a new barrel every 800 rounds is not a biggie probably buys them by the dozen,
in a single shot Match rifle a 6mm Rem / 6mm Rem AI is the better option better velocity much longer barrel life,
If you don't mid a bit of weight a 6mm Rem built on a Mauser 98 action is better than a .243 any day of the week or if a fan of the Tikka T3 the 6mm Rem feeds better than the .243 and handles 100 grain
projectiles better and faster,
If you only want to shoot bullets up to 90 grains the 6mm will fit in a Sako 75/85 .243/7mm08/.308 action,
You may guess I am a 6mm Rem fan I have owned 3 still have 1, also have owned 4 .243's they never shot as good as the 6mm Rem kept trying to find a .243 that would out shoot my 6mm have given up and necked the cases up to 7mm08
243Win has better brass options. Does anyone actually make 6mm Rem brass anymore?
243Win has better options period. I can by a 243Win in any brand of anything whenever I want. Shit I can even buy them in LH
243Win feeds just fine. Why would it feed better or worse than any -08 variant?
A bigger powder load pushed through the same dia hole is faster....... but barrels are longer lasting? .............really?
243Win is on the shelf at your local gunshop.
243Win kills stuff well (if you point it in the right place).
243Win is softer to shoot (the main reason of the article, not speed or barrel life).
0.5% of us shoot "matches" so most do care about a bit of weight (check out every second post on here, lightweight is the new black)
Every 243Win/AI I have owned or know shot well, so we are now 50:50 on opinions.
Barrel twist will determine what weight you can shoot, not the bit of brass left behind. My 243AI shot 105 pills all day and the only heavier available (without some painful US ordering ordeal) was the 107SMK which I didnt care for. Im sure a 1:8 243Win will do the same.
Bro. I shit you not. I shot this group yesterday with the 243. It was a good group but could be a touch gay.

Do some research the 6mm Rem has a longer neck it contains the burning gas better and protects the throat from erosion my 6mm has fired 3000 rounds and is still accurate
not many .243's get to half that, I was not talking about availability of brass or ammo just the merits of the cartridge, Winchester and Hornady supply both brass and loaded rounds
stand twist in both are now 1:9" the 6mm always was it took the industry a long time to figure out that the .243 should change.
Stone cold sober @Dundee also witnessed it
