Interesting, get it implemented before March 15th and the government can say they have put changes in place.

But "they " haven't. Some of these changes are arbitrary police policy changes simply designed to look like law.

sooooo, to make the first part clear.
lets say you buy 5-6 different parts and do the right thing and get them all on the same permit. They are out of stock or it is in a different branch so they send the first lot through with the rest sent at a later date. Going by this, you need a permit for the outstanding items? That's a PITA. Making things more efficient my arse.
If so going forward the exporter would have to have clear and concise instructions to send everything together.
Considering the shit ass buggerey civil service type roundabout that some people have had over getting into customs this is not a help

Isn't the big issue here that you will be required to personally front up at your nearest customs office or use a broker, rather than just mailing the permit in? Or am I reading that wrong?

I applied for an import permit 10/12/2019 and am still waiting for it. For a scope. Can't see anything getting any easier anytime soon.

Chase it up mate. I put one in on the 18th of the 12th for a red dot and various other pistol parts.
I got an email after I chased it up a day before everything including the permit showed up in my mailbox saying it was approved. I think that was around the 8th of Jan.
Great. But I then had to inform my AO.....same as yours that the parts arrived without being held or processed by customs.
