Homemade Custom Turret - Dial 'em in quick!

I followed the lesson in the Long Range dvd of @Norway to make my dropchart and then make the turret so you can just dial up distance instead of having to always look on your chart.

My 848 yard shot shows me I'm pretty damn close (apart from neglecting to factor in spindrift). Elevation was not bad. Maybe one click up. I'll have to try another round or two in case it was human error

Looks fantastic. Is that laminated and then stuck on ?

Would love to get one for my new Mueller scope.

Not even eah! I just printed it on normal copy paper and put sellotape on the front and back then wrapped it around the turret with more sellotape. A bit hori but it works perfectly and I can just print another one if it gets unreadable.

i just heard about some 'red' double sided tape that can take your skin off. I told my wife - Get me two rolls of that immediately!

1 question - why not just add the range markers onto the existing turret - then put the clear tape over?

Multiple rounds, weather or locations will change your range to drop.

You could have a South Island Tahr label and a Long Range at home label.

@Norway dvd shows you how to make those adjustments for different environments than your 'default setting'. Much you can prepare well in advance of taking the shot. So in fact you only need the one set of turrets for the one gun providing the load is the same. You could have another set for a different load/weight projectile or if you wanted the same scope to be used on an entirely different calibre rifle. This would work well if you use QR rings and had a record of the zero adjustment back and forth. The setup change would be very quick.

Cost is the only issue. How do you apply markings to the turret other than a hand written one? It's cheap to print paper off a computer.

Is there an English language version for those of us who are less literate?
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

All you need is powerpoint, take your time and be ready to pause and replay sections. It's all just a case of following what they do. I have a much older version of powerpoint than the lesson and just had to look in different places for the functions. Give it a crack. It's easy really.

There's so much useful stuff in 'Bonus Material' I sit there with a pen and paper and write down the stuff relevant to me so I can review that without having to find it on the dvd again.

Ive been using this for a while now on my MOA Mk4. Just remember to back off x1 or x2 clicks depending if you are shooting on 10° or 15° angle.

Easily gets you out to 600 yards using the standard pressure/temp of your normal hunting spots.

Mk4 turrets only have a small visable section so it's proberly one of the hardest scopes to do it with.

Photo Shop or AutoCAD are the best programs to use if you can find someone that knows how to use them.

Print on normal printer then wrap with waterproof tape (that sticks like shit to a blanket) around it. Get this tape from Mitre10 Mega and cut it down to suit.

The red lines mark the origonal MOA so i can still easily use a drop chart if i need to and see if the tape has moved on the turret.

First test day saw x2 sika drop on the spot at 594 and 597 Yards. Shot another one at 450 Yards the other day so im convinced

If you have very accurate data and good CONSISTENT realods you should not have any problem.

    Good Luck
