A timber safe also has the advantage that it doesn't cool to the dew point like a steel one and so doesn't condense moisture like a steel jobby. The only one I can't figure out how to stop is a big powerful reciprocating saw if the crims can drill a hole to start it. Any ideas ??

There's no way to get something completely theft proof, If they've targeted your place specifically for firearms they'll be prepared.
A good alarm system with camera's is the best bet in my opinion
