@ Brad S , the rifle is totally bog standard and factory spec. You don't need or want to be altering it. It is a lovely example of a CZ 452 and they have a well deserved reputation as great .22
There is a misconception at times between what "silenced " movie guns are and the real world of shooting.
As you have mentioned environment can alter things as well . Shooting from a confined space like a room or having those pine trees in the back ground will bounce your sound signature back to you and make things seem louder.
I have found bolt rifles like yours with a good suppressor and the right ammo to be the quietest as semi's also have the noise of the action cycling.
Don't forget also what your hearing behind the butt will be different to what an animal hears 50 mtrs away.
I would be taking advice from the other forum members and try a few different ammo brands.
You will find the right and most effective combination with some experimentation and time, good luck and enjoy , it's all part of the shooting and hunting experience and learning.
Thanks for your input. I didn't think there was a problem with the rifle at all, and have no intention of altering it! I guess I was just surprised at how much the noise wasn't reduced by the suppressor. I will pick up some different ammo and report back with findings.
