I have had two of those VX1 3-9x40 scopes. Even when I had superb young eyesight they had really bad 'flare'. Point anywhere towards the sun and the scope is unusable.
Normally at 40 -45 years a mans eyesight deteriorates and so we need to buy good scopes. I sold my two VX1's and my other three leupolds and bought good scopes.
I would buy a good scope now and sell the leupold as a sooner rather than later
one of my longest shot on a deer was steeply up hill and got mate to hold my hat up over scope so I could see...wouldnt have mattered what scope I was using...there is nothing wrong with basic leupold 3x9x40 some of us have been using them for years happily....
