Large MV variation from trueing

I have had a Bushnell scope that was .33 MOA per click instead of the .25 MOA indicated. Caused me all sorts of grief till I figured it out. Still have it but its on a rifle I do not dial.
Never heard of a radar reading incorrectly. Especially weird if load data indicates the velocity you are expecting.
My guess is click value, scope height or environmental inputs. Highly doubt the radar is reading wrong. You can always confirm it with another caliber if you have one.

I've had a couple of leupold vx6 scopes now that all have had click values around .28/click, couldn't work out why I was always over adjusting.

Interesting, in this case without actually testing it the assumption is it’s less than .25 moa per click which is why i’m having to dial more.

According to people that test alot of tier one optics for their work there is only a very few scopes that dial accurately.
I wonder which brands they are?

Interestingly the older vx 3 cds scopes ive got both work out to be pretty well .25

ok...so Im going to say it.......if rifle is accurate....and you can put projectiles into target at any given range using your dialing up capabilities...your MV is irrelevant....to some extent...if its going fast enough to kill cleanly at your 600 max go with it and be happy....we,ve seen you can shoot well...

also I BELIEVE you can check issue simply without firing a shot one of two ways....bore sight/colimter and dial say 16 clicks and see if moves 4 squares...or clamp rifle in some thing....lead sled/bipod and rear bags etc and set target at measured 100 yards and do same dialing up with 4" marked on target....

I had a vx6 that was .28/click got rid of it went straight to nightforce and never had an issue. wasted alot of time on that one.

Do a bit a of tall target test at 100yards and see how it goes if you are in doubt. Thats a bit of a velocity difference for sure.

With 90% of modern boat tail projectiles a pretty much perfect drop chart is calculated with just these 4 things.

1. Confirm if the scope actually tracks correctly by clicking against a grid at 100y (first thing to confirm)
2. Confirm ctr of scope to ctr of bore accurately (measure using calipers)
3. Litz G7 BC for projectile (a true independently measured BC)
4. Confirm average MV using radar

If you’re using a correctly setup radar to measure MV it’s a solid, given input and should rarely ever be changed.

Personally I’d be ditching the Accubonds and trying something else. There are much better options out there for LR.

I understand some people are using these successfully however you’re certainly not the first to have issues like this with these.

Sorry should have said a 147 ELD-M is a great ‘easy to calculate’ option.

The accubonds wouldn’t normally be my first choice, with the state of supply atm there weren’t many options and these were available. Hornady 6.5 pills are like looking for unicorns atm lol. I might try some berger’s next year.

The ABLRs while over stated in BC are pretty good performers. I used them in a rem mag, 270, and 6.5x47 evn at rem. Mag speeds I shot O bull Tahr breaking both shoulders in close and didn't find limited penetration like can happen at higher speeds with eld ms. In the 6.5 they preformed great expanding reliably. I shoot the hornady due to price but the accubonds where pretty bloody good projectiles. Just liked a lot of jump vs being in the lands.

I've got a box of 6.5 142 ABLRs I'd be happy to pass along at eld m rates if your interested. I'd guess 75 ish of them. Go shoot some. Game with the ELD ms once this is sorted and I'm sure you will find they are pretty good at the important part. Not sure what accuracy you have found but I consistently found 100 thou or so jump led to the best accuracy.

@Stocky definitely keen, mine are running at 55 thou jump but the window they liked did seem to be around 50 - 80 thou in this rifle
