    Lockdown Practice Shooting

Given that we are all stuck at home and all itching to do some shooting, I figured I would share my personal target with everyone.

Usually when I go to a private farm, I shoot two A4 targets with my 22LR at 25 metres, one with 12 roundels I shoot standing and and one with 50 roundels I shoot kneeling and sitting (Hey, this is an Auckland farm, 25m is good, ayet?)

Now that I cannot go out, I shoot from inside my garage at a target 12 metres away, using my air rifle. It is quiet enough enough that it does not upset anyone (I think). I use a cardboard box filled with thick books as backstop. Behind my box is a retaining wall so it is completely safe.

    I have attached below:
    1. the 12 Roundel target for you to print and shoot, Just print in A4.
    2. my instructions of how far and how to score, if you care to compare against yourself and any other members of the forum.
    3. an example of a shot target and scoring (terrible kneeling today).

    Enjoy!

My air rifle is a cheapy inaccurate POS bought for the kid.
    My garage however is huge.
I'll see what I can do tomorrow.

    Those are my excuses, anyway!
Put a blob of oil on the tip of the next CO2 powerlet you insert, and ALSO clean and smear the O-ring on the front cap as well as the female threads there. The front cap O-ring alone should prevent gas leakage. They were designed originally to have two canisters inside the tube, the front canister pierced by a spike on the inside of the front cap.

Anyway, if you can shoot well with a 2245 you can shoot.

It'd be good to know the make and model of the air rifles.

First go - HW-35 with a random Burris 3-9 scope (so a bit of parallax at 10M!!) at 10M. I've got a bit of work to do!! When my shooting improves a bit I'll go to the pellets the rifle really "likes" (unfortunately only 20 or 30 left)

Had a nice relaxing shoot with the Edgun matador R3 in .25cal today. Set some spinners up at 100m..
Surgical accuracy.. hard to miss even in a bit of a breeze.

Got the air rifle sorted, sighted it with round nosed Winchester slugs and as running out of them switched to a fresh box of pointed Winchester slugs only they were too tight for my weak spring, had to push them with a bent bit of brazing rod before they’d fire.
Had to ‘size’ them by pushing them through an old slug pistol barrel to get them to fire in the rifle.

Ah well, need a plan B...

Well, a few weeks back when I knew travel was out, and I might have time on my hands (yeah, I know, an idiot was I...) I bought an air pistol modeled on a CZ, and set up a WalMart carton inside target at the vicarage.

I believe you will agree that with the two sighting shots in the pic at 0900 and 0300, I am no threat to pistol champs at ~ the 10 yard mark... :-)

    Haven't shot since, because time.
