Thread: Long rang shooting near Christchurch.

Does anyone know of anywhere I can go target shooting that has at least 400m - 500m?
I would like to do a lot more longer range shooting but all we have is the NZDA range which isn't even close to long enough.
Where I currently shoot is around 350m but it is doc land and I can set up any targets permanently and the cross wind is usually punishing.
I did hear something about a range down in Tai Tapu or near by but have yet to see where it is.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

There is a club out tai tapu. goes out to 1000yds I assume they use to be out South Malvern moved there not sure of club name not much help I suppose

go to your local nra fullbore range.

before you know it, you will be hand loading ammo and looking for a target rifle (if you don't already)

Unfortunately, I already have the hand-loading bug,
I also wouldn't mind a nice heavy barrelled rifle but we will see where it leads.

I was driving out through Tai Tapu the weekend before last and saw the CHCH rifle club set up for a shoot, it looked pretty cool.. Being a fullbore rifle club do you think they would let hunting rifles on that range as well?

Yes, they let hunting rifles on the range. Best to give them a call to find out what distances they're shooting as they have mounds for 300 500 600 800 900 & 1000 yards.

With your rifle, license, and range fee I sure you'll be welcome.

Note: I'm not a club member but my 14 year old son shoots with them.

I went to shoot with them and used my hunting rifle.
I had a great time and everyone there are great, Unfortunately I had to leave early and life has got in the way of me going back as of yet.
