Some of you may have seen this or his other one on Fish n Hunt but I though it was quite good and worth sharing.

Thanks for sharing that is good shit. Its cool watching that wave and on one of the last few shots you see the golden flash of the projectile, really cool
There are some good kills there however looking at the ranges and kills and remembering they are live animals I'd be calling that calibre and projectile selection as something best suited within 500 for good kills in variable winds that they had. Some good shots but best consistent kills were inside 500
This guy is a bloody top shot, and top bloke. I disagree with horihunters comment about the distance and projectile choice. With an experienced shooter who can pick winds well anything out to 800 should be a dead duck with his set-up. The 168's are still packing enough punch for a goat. Obviously not recommended for your average joe with his new tikka and a 3-9 x 40 scope tho...
I'm not questioning his ability as a shooter or making a judgement on his character just making a judgement on terminal bullet performance based on footage from the video. Quite a clear difference in kills past 500 (except the spinal on the one at 900). would have been plenty of info for the thread Toby started about bullet performance at different ranges if someone could be bothered bashing through the scrub in those gullys to do.an autopsy (I wouldn't lol) I'm using 168s as well and my experience with them is they need a bit more mass to really do the damage as range gets a bit further the video seemed to confirm that (I get quicker kills on bigger bodied animals with them, this is not denying that a hole in the right spot will always kill something) need to shoot more to know for sure though (insert emoticon here). Was interesting watching the one.standing behind the bush. Barely seemed to react to the initial impact. At the end of the day you have to shoot a few animals with a few variables to have enough info to make a real call on bullet performance and he's certainly on his way there
Edit to add re-reading original post can see the "remembering they are live animals" could be interpreted as a call against the shooter however that is not how it was intended
He is using a 300win mag with 168amaxs more than enough gun. These shots are taken in high wind if you see his other video done in much calmer conditions you will see the terminal performance is fine.

Its pretty impressive shooting if you are familiar with the location.
Some of those shots are far from good kills, a couple will take a long time to die and no effort put in to finish them off with the ones still in full veiw, the second or third goat with the gut shot high and rear should have had a quick follow up shot, as could a couple of others, yes at that range you get the odd wind call wrong but I have another round ready. That scrubby shit would not allow the follow up knife work so a quick second shot is best.
I am not saying hes not a good guy just I wouldn't have put some of those kills online...
Good skills and good video but I have mixed views on this and agree with leathel that a number of the shootings required a follow up shot to complete the kill.
It should of been called "iv got a neat spot for some long range footage" rather than goat culling.
Could have shot more out of the mob in some shots and as leathel said should have been a couple of follow up shots on poor hits.
Well I think it's a good video with some interesting footage... :o haha
But seriously fair call I'll admit some of those shots were not perfect and as someone said not "Internet worthy" ??
Well see that's the point while others only post up one sided rosy footage of when things all perfectly I'll show you the footage good or bad.
As to the fact that I could have shot more out of the mobs your right... but who said I was in any hurry... lol
The other option for culling mop ups is the goats get dogged... Something I certainly don't agree with.
Glad to see you using the a-maxs, you still enjoying the ssrnz.co.nz rifle ?
Yep it's a great rig,
A good friend was keen on it so iv sold it to him, iv started another project which should be a lot of fun.
The base of which is a Rock River LAR8 it's gonna be set up for 0-800 m
Currently just deciding on optics ?
Looking at a Vortex PST 4-16 with fine illuminated moa reticle
They are getting reasonable reviews I'm keen to see how it tracks tho
Nice build.
