    Long range hunting stock - recommendations

    I’ve got a 7 saum that I want to restock with a more long range user friendly carbon stock. I’ve had a look online at McMillan and manners stocks. The manners elite hunter looks good. I’m after a more vertical grip with a decent palm swell as well as a nice high comb where the bolt barely clears the stock. I’ve got a McMillan edge hunter on it now which is a nice stock, I just find the pistol grip a bit small etc. What’s a good stock? Anything made in nz?

    I'd be very happy if I'm wrong but I don't think there is a nz company making carbon stocks anymore

    That’s real disappointing, used to be 3 or 4. Decent opportunity for some one to fill the gap

    I just git a hitec prs hunters stock... damn nice. Or a manners which I have in my 7mm saum, or find an older Ken Henderson also which I got on my 300 norma. They are all quite vertical grip, great stocks.

    @Ginga

    I'd recommend PSE Composites of Ireland.

    https://www.pseriflestocks.co.uk/

    They take a different approach to most 'carbon' stockmakers, instead of using a carbon weave moulded over a foam core, or having two halves moulded together and filled with foam, they use a carbon chassis to hold the action inlet shape, which is then built over with resin and foam.

    Ergonomics are great, very grippy finish and no pillars required.

    Reckon I’ll look into Hi etc first. Can you get some sort of textured paint or something added to it for grip? Straight carbon is slippery.

    Edi is a German prof composites engineer and really knows what he is doing. His stocks are being used by serious PRS guys, some F-TR shooters as well as hunters. I still have one of his for a little .223 sporter.

    Their Multi Purpose stocks for the T3 are my favourite.

    For a Rem clone you'd be looking at their E-Lite or E-Tac.

    You won’t regret it. Probably one of the best finished stock out there.
